The penetration depth of the needles can be adjusted directly on the device, so there is no need to change the tip in order to treat areas that require deeper or more superficial treatments. The area of the tip which comes in direct contact with the skin is about 1 centimeter in diameter, which makes it easy to treat hard to reach areas inaccessible to dermal rollers.
All Dermapen needle cartridges are:
single packed
single use
sterile (using Gamma ray radiation)
spring loaded
surgical grade stainless steel needles (33 gauge)
suitable for Dermapen 3MD and PRO models
Microneedling is a simple, in office procedure performed in less than an hour by one of our Medical Aestheticians.
After thoroughly cleansing the skin, a sterile tip containing eleven microfine needles is loaded into a piston-driven
handpiece. Using hyaluronic acid as a lubricant the sterile tip is applied to the skin in circular motions creating
microchannels. The depth of needle penetration can be adjusted depending on the areas of the face,
neck or chest being treated.
The controlled mechanical micro-trauma stimulates new collagen and elastin production to thicken and tighten skin.
While the channels are open, serum, growth factors or even your own platelet rich plasma can be applied to further
stimulate skin rejuvenation. The recovery time is usually 24- 48 hours and the skin looks refreshed and healthier
in a week's time.

FAQ's
Q: How are the needle tips sterilized?
A:To ensure safety we use only the most advanced sterilization procedures and packaging materials. Currently, we are using gamma ray radiation to sterilize the needle cartridges. This method gives 3 to 5 years of guaranteed sterility from date of manufacture.
Q: How many times can each needle tip be re-used?
A:Dermapen's sterile needle tips are designed to be disposable and are for single-use only, to prevent cross-contamination and infection. The needle tips cannot be properly sterilized after use due to the materials used in their construction. We strongly recommend against re-using needle tip cartridges, as patient safety is of paramount importance. Dermapen's design permits the user to change the needle tip cartridge after each treatment. A low consumable cost of the needle tips, combined with little to no downtime for the patient, makes Dermapen an ideal solution.
Q: Does the tip need to be changed if several areas on a patient's body are being treated within the same session?
A:There are no safety concerns in the situation described above when the sterility protocol is followed properly, however, there are some other factors that need to be considered. One of them is the severity of the condition being treated. While the needles do retain their sharpness for the entirety of a generic Dermapen Treatment and beyond, a practitioner may want to use a new tip if particularly thick scar tissue spanning over a large area is being treated. In most cases, this is not necessary.
Another issue is the use of TLA when treating several large areas. As a general rule, TLA should not be applied to a composite area of an A4 sheet of paper during any single treatment. If a larger area, such as the back, needs to be treated and TLA application is necessary, it is recommended to break the area up and treat it over several sessions.
